As said by management, professional elections will take place at BM during the autumn. We want to give you an alternative explanation of their role in the French labor law.
It is in fact two elections merged into one. You will vote, first for people to represent your interests, but also for how you will be represented: with or without a union.
CSE gives you a voice, unions give you bargaining power
CSE members are informed about changes on collective work organization. They can also report risks related to work. It is a useful discussion space, but with limited powers: it cannot force management to act on the alerts raised, or adapt work organization.
Union representation completes the CSE. With a union, negotiations become mandatory each year about salaries and working time organization, among other topics. Union delegates can then sign company agreements that are legally binding.
Why choose a union list?
Management has significant resources. Running alone is complicated. A Solidaires Informatique list ensures that you won’t be alone, as the union provides:
- Training to understand how to represent employees and how it works
- Support and experience from sections in other tech companies that face the same issues: Google Cloud, OVH, OCTO, 360Learning, Ubisoft, and many more!
- Support from professional experts, lawyers, auditors, etc., that are on the employee side — because management also has its own lawyers
- Financial resources as well, to pay those professional experts, and to compensate for strikes — if it ever comes to that
Who will be on the Solidaires Informatique list? Only Back Makers with flesh and bones, like you. In fact, you can join our list even if you are not part of the union!
Decoding anti-union tactics
Those elections are not made for nothing. Management is alienating unions, by casting them as being outside of BM. That is a classic tactic, borrowed from US union-busting firms hired by companies like Starbucks, Amazon, and even… Back Market.
